Mandrágora Tango: Nostalgic tango that stirs the soul and moves the feet
Mandrágora Tango is a vibrant collective of tango musicians based in Minneapolis, dedicated to preserving the nearly-lost musical forms of tango and translating them for today’s listeners and dancers. Tango music defies categorization, living somewhere between classical, jazz and world beat. Mandrágora dances across those lines and creates a music that is fresh, engaging, danceable and nostalgic. Or something like that.
You won’t need to take a long-haul trip to South America for authentic live Tango music.
Don’t miss Mandragora’s East Coast Tour, May 2-6, with Homecoming Dance on May 11
Mandragora Tango is proud to announce its first ever tour! In fact, this will be the first time we’ve played together outside of Minnesota. We’re still working on all the times and places, but this is going to be a great tour.
- May 2: Madison, WI At Restaurant Magnus, probably form 8:30 to 11:30, details TBA. Magnus is owned by Christopher Berge, and old friend of Mandrágora violinist Christian Zamora. Christian studied at UW Madison and lived there for quite a while. His old tango band, Libretango, frequently played at Magnus. It’ll be a bit of a homecoming for Christian.
