The Red Romance is steadily becoming the hot new band to watch on the indie music scene. The New York City-based group recently released a self-titled EP that combines ’80s pop with Motown-influenced beats and edgy rock n’ roll flair.
The band features Darren Beckett (drums),Adam Chilenski (bass), Herschel Gaer (guitar) and Matthew Dublin (vocals and guitar). Beckett and Dublin are the former drummer and bassist of über-indie band Ambulance LTD. The two tendered their resignations in late 2005 and started The Red Romance soon after with a catalogue of songs written by Dublin. The new band proceeded to make waves in the NYC scene with their intense live shows and hook-laden songs.
Last fall, Vegas rockers The Killers asked the unsigned group to join them for a string of dates after hearing an early self-produced demo. The Red Romance is gearing up for a club tour of the East Coast and Canada before heading back to the studio to finish their follow-up album.
